Introduction
The BT Performance Connector allows users to query performance statistics and then use the data within a Google DataStudio context. It provides the same set of functionality as the performance report view in BidTheatre Studio.
Finding and accessing the connector
The Connector is currently not published in the public marketplace, so it will have to be added manually. The steps are outlined below or use this direct URL: https://datastudio.google.com/datasources/create?connectorId=AKfycbxTjHyXQdE9a7o8V02GPN1bnRofx8B34ByyjZryXv5XY66FK_MYQ5IBiNOwcmP805pfGQ
- In Google DataStudio, click "Data sources" in the left menu
- Click the plus sign in the bottom right corner to add a new data source
- Click the "Developers"-button in the top right corner
- Paste the following ID into the text field at the bottom of the page
AKfycbw0Rl2Oz9rI7IyKmjBql2-NqdurpksPmQ5lEfivmSRfCh5_YqQySo_4NvshR5zOSOwu2w
- Click the "Validate"-button
- Click "Select" below the BT Performance connector
- Done, now the connector is ready to be configured and used.
Signing in
You should now see a username and password field that allow you to sign in to BidTheatre. Proceed and sign in, using the credentials that you normally would use when signing in to BidTheatre Studio. You will now be signed in and the session will stay alive for as long as as you're active. The connector will ask you to sign in again if you are inactive for more than 5 hours.
Configuring the connector
After signing in, you are presented with a few configuration options that will allow you to control what data will be retrieved.
Account / seat ID
Mandatory. The account/seat ID the request should be made for.
Advertiser ID
Not mandatory. Denotes the advertiser to retrieve data for.
Campaign ID
Not mandatory. Denotes the campaign to retrieve data for.
Bid Strategy ID
Not mandatory. Denotes the bid strategy to retrieve data for.
Group By
Mandatory. Allows the user to control how the retrieved data is to be grouped.
Using the connector in a report
After configuring the connector, click the blue "Connect"-button in the top right corner.
You will now see all the fields that will be available in the data sets returned from the connector. To use the connector in a report, click "Create Report" in the top right corner
, and if you see a dialog notifying you about that you're about to add a data source, click the "Add to report"-button.
Testing the connector
Ensure that the connector is associated with the report, and proceed to click "Add a chart" in the toolbar. Choose a table and place it anywhere on the report canvas.
This should trigger data to be retrieved from BidTheatre and displayed in the table.
You can now change the date range, choose fields, change grouping while working with the report.
A note on date ranges
Although not clearly obvious, the data set retrieved is controlled by a date range. The default date range generated by Google Data Studio is last 28 days. As stated above though, the date range can be manipulated later on while working with the report.
